Balancing and Priorities

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

Finding and taking the time for me was and still is hard. I have four kids, 2 are special needs so when they are awake all of me needs to be present for them so that can make things tricky. Finding time for myself has turned me into a morning person, an early morning person, a 4:00 am morning person. Constantly shifting and working around sleep schedules is hard- but having time for myself and what I want to do makes getting up incredibly early worth it.

I’m up before the sun writing in my journal and enjoying a cup of coffee. I do a tarot reading to set the tone of my day and roll out my yoga mat and do anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour of yoga. Yoga does more for me than just stretch me out and make me loose. It also refreshes my mind and gets me in a better space mentally. I’m never annoyed that I took time to do yoga.

Doing these things for myself makes me a better human. I have more patience, I’m happier, and I get more done throughout my day. Learning to make me a priority and balance my time in a way that I can put me first- even if it’s only for an hour, makes it possible for me to be the healthiest version of me that I can be. And responsibilities aside, being healthy, mentally and physically healthy for me is important. If I’m unwell I’m not doing a single thing, which spirals out of control very quickly. We’re given one chance to be here and constantly being miserable is no way to spend your time. Choosing to be happy, choosing to carve time out to work on you, choosing to be a better human- it’s life changing. Even if it’s only 10 minutes a day.

You are worth it!
